The year in which we have consolidated ourselves as and iberian agency
At Canela we have always been driven by the ambition to create communication campaigns at a global level, but with a local touch. That is why we are especially proud to end 2021 celebrating that we are a consolidated Iberian agency, thanks to the growing number of clients who have entrusted us with their communication in Spain and Portugal.
In 2016 we established our office in Lisbon, with the aim of helping our clients to take advantage of the potential synergies between the Spanish and Portuguese markets, but without losing sight of the identity and particularities of each country. Five years later, we can say that this formula has worked: 60% of our main clients have entrusted us with their public relations in both countries. These clients include Adyen, Cradlepoint, KONE, Ukio, Vivid and VTEX (NYSE: VTEX).
This trend is also the result of Portugal’s economic recovery, as the country nowadays shows a strong, internationalised and increasingly digital market. 80% of the accounts we work for in Portugal are also our clients in Spain.
Outstanding campaigns in 2021 and new clients
Two of the most outstanding campaigns we have managed this year in Spain and Portugal are two perfect examples of Canela’s strength in the Iberian market. The first is the launch of the Adyen Retail Report, which resulted in many high-quality media impacts in both countries and several editorial opportunities for its spokesperson.
Another major campaign we have managed this year is the launch in Spain and Portugal of Vivid, the platform that combines banking and investment services in a single app. In just a few months, it has positioned itself as a leader among journalists in the field of neobanks and is now regularly featured in the media in both countries.
In 2021, we also managed the communication campaign of the IPO of VTEX (NYSE: VTEX), the digital commerce platform for large companies and retailers. We also accompanied Sony in the celebration of its 75th anniversary and the presentation of the new Sony Alpha 7 IV professional camera, as well as the new ranges of televisions and soundbars.

Beyond all these achievements, every day we strive to make working at Canela a fun, interesting and enriching experience for our entire team. And we continue to receive recognition for it: this year we have been selected as one of the five Best Agencies to Work For in EMEA by the renowned PRovoke Media portal.
Among the highlights that have made us worthy of this recognition is Erasmus Canela, which provides members of our team with the opportunity to spend time in another country to gain international experience and improve their language skills.
Finally, we also try to help make the world around us a little better with the Canela Cares programme, through which we support non-profit initiatives that have a positive impact on the planet.
