Did you think January was going to start off calmly? Wr0ng! 🚨💥

But don’t worry, because we’re here to get you up to speed on all the news in the industry with the first #DigitalTrends of the year 📲

Instagram has moved away from its characteristic 1:1 feed format and introduced a vertical format. Additionally, users now have the option to adjust the framing of already published content and add a white or black border to it.

The social network X plans to launch TV streaming services and financial products, such as micropayments and credit cards, in 2025. Its goal is to become a “SuperApp” like WeChat. It will also expand the capabilities of its AI, Grok.

X introduces Grok, a sarcastic chatbot with real-time access and multimodal features, alongside Aurora, its AI for generating and editing photorealistic images. Aurora aims to compete with DALL-E and expand creative capabilities on the platform.

Telegram kicks off 2025 with an update that includes verification for public accounts via external verifiers, enhanced search filters, and collectible gifts. The verification system aims to promote transparency, prevent scams and fight misinformation on the platform.

Meta launches a community notes feature on Instagram in the U.S., inspired by Twitter, to replace third-party fact-checking. Users will be able to choose to see more political content in their feeds, with a personalized focus.

TikTok launches a new feed called “Explore,” allowing users to discover unfollowed accounts, expanding options beyond the tailored “For You” content. This new tab is available on many accounts, further diversifying the experience.

LinkedIn launches Companies Hub, a tool that allows users to plan, activate and measure campaigns more effectively. It filters key metrics like interactions and performance to improve B2B strategies, ideal for optimizing marketing on the platform.

Instagram introduces default private accounts for teens, limiting who can contact them and what content they can see. This move aims to protect the privacy and security of young users on the platform.

Pinterest offers various tools for creating collages: “Remix,” which allows users to customize and collaborate on existing collages, and “Share,” enabling the download and sharing of collages as videos on social media.
