One of the favourite sections of our blog is back, the “Getting to know” series, in which we share memories, ideas, experiences and anecdotes about this crazy world of communication. Today it’s the turn of Anastasia Umovskaya, Director of operations in Game Point Center, the largest escape room center in Europe.
Getting to know
What has been your greatest achievement in the world of communication?
I started my professional career at a young age, when I was only 17 years old. And all the great achievements, I think started from this point. It was very difficult to get respect from my colleagues who were 10 to 20 years older than I was. The most tangible achievement was that I secured more than 10 million euros in fundraising for the Jazz Festival in Russia, for only having worked for 4 months on the project.
As a client, which are the things that annoy you the most about a PR agency?
As I’ve been on the side of the PR agency I know how difficult it is to control every small detail of each client. But this is the best thing that an agency can do – to control what is going on, to react quickly and to always be on call with what is going with the client’s market, to propose interesting actions. If such things are not happening, it can get really annoying.
What advice would you give to your 25 year old self?
To follow my own way, never put my head down, and remember – he who works hard – gets it all.
What is your frustrated profession?
A lawyer. Sometimes I really regret that I have never studied law. The people who know the letter of law amaze me.
Which social network do you think will be still popular in 2020?
To my mind, it will be definitely Instagram. Instagram is a perfect place for vanity and curiosity – pure human nature.
What are the challenges facing the communication sector in 2017?
The biggest challenge for the communication sector in recent years, I think, is to be reliable. Nowadays the world has explored a lot, there are no more borders between countries, cultures and people. And it’s a challenge: how to provide correct information to everyone?
What is your personal motto?
If you want more than you have today, you should work harder than you worked yesterday.
