As part of our loved section “Getting to know Canela team” today we want to know a little bit more about José Muriel, Senior Account Manager at Canela Madrid office.
Getting to know José Muriel
Name and surname: José Muriel
Clients you have worked with: A lot and from many sectors: from the Ministry of Industry to – to erotic products!
How many years’ work experience do you have? Six
Where are you from? I was born in Madrid, I grew up with my parents between Coslada and San Fernando (two municipalities in Madrid which are separated by one street; if you are on one side of the highway, you´re in Coslada and if you are on the other side, you´re in San Fernando) and I returned to Madrid when I became left home 4 years ago.
¿Can you describe yourself in three words?
Quiet, a perfectionist and a little bit freaky.
How do you see the present and the future of communication?
Changeable, without a doubt. I started my professional career when Facebook and Twitter were emerging and nowadays they are both a key platform in any of the strategies which we design for our clients. I think this evolution has given a lot of opportunities to PR professionals and forced us to be continuously updating our knowledge and looking for new trends. Personally I find this is very rewarding.
Any funny anecdotes that you want to tell us about this crazy world of communication?
I lived the craziest professional experience in a press trip. Although the First Minister cancelled its press conference when we arrived, suddenly in the afternoon he was able to speak with the media… in 10 minutes! And we were 30 km away. Luckily, everyone was able to ask the Minister questions and the coverage was very positive.
Are you active in social media? What is your favorite platform?
I adore Twitter because I can see what the media (and journalists) are saying and the topics they are interested in. Also, I can´t stop posting photos on Instagram, especially of my cats.
If you didn’t work in the world of communication, what other sector would you be interested in?
I love writing and languages so I could have perfectly well dedicated myself to the world of translation and interpreting.
What do you do when you’re not at Canela?
I love discovering new places in Madrid… And video games!
Who has inspired you in your life?
Without any doubt, my parents. With them I have learned what effort and responsibility mean and they have thought me how to deal with problems calmly and rationally.
What is your life motto?
Everything that includes “Keep calm” at the beginning of the sentence.
