So we had hoped that after the madness of 2016, when we celebrated our tenth anniversary that 2017 was going to be a little more “calm”… how wrong we were. We have continued to get new clients, expand our team and launch creative campaigns. And as if that wasn’t enough, this year we have also begun to share our knowledge and experiences through the radio, at universities and conferences.
2017 has been a great year for Canela and here’s why
New clients we love
But please don’t think that we’re complaining, our work for some of the world’s most exciting brands has made us squeeze our neurons to help transmit their messages with that special “toque de Canela” that we like to add. During the last year we have incorporated several very interesting new clients. For example, Ricoh, the leading provider of document management, has entrusted Canela PR with its communication for Spain and Portugal. And we were delighted to discover that Ricoh does not just make printers and photocopiers. In addition to that, they participate in exciting projects, from 3D printing to the fight against Alzheimer’s.
This year we have also started working in Spain for Worten, the consumer electronics retail chain, the gift boxes of Wonderbox, perfect to fit on any occasion; and Babbel, the leading application for language learning.
In Portugal we have incorporated clients such as the Royal Academy of Dance, which has entrusted us with the communication of the Genée International Ballet Competition held for the first time in the Portuguese capital; eCooltra, the electric scooters rental service that has arrived in Lisbon, Rome and Madrid after the success achieved in Barcelona.
Campaigns that have left their mark
This year we have organized a lot of fun events with great media coverage, such as #QuedadaLenovoChampions
As every year, in February we turn to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, managing the communication of our clients in this sector such as Lenovo and Motorola. In the following months we also continued to work very hard for Lenovo, with the organization of other events such as a, the call of the eSports team #LegionByLenovo in Madrid or the meeting with the brand fans #QuedadaLenovoChampions. After the summer, we also took care of the organization of a meet and greet with @Sr_Zeta, the brand ambassador of Motorola.
In July we organized G.Point launch campaign, the largest escape room in Europe located in Barcelona. We prepared an extensive plan including radio, video and social media activities, as well as communication to the media. We also took care of organizing two events for journalists and the opening party at the Port Fòrum in Barcelona, which was attended by more than 200 people. It was a lot of work, but we got more than 30 articles in top tier media, such as national newspapers, lifestyle press and presence in local radios and television. We also had a great growth in our social platforms with a 300% increase in followers and the promotional video we produced got more than 45,000 views!
In autumn for the second year running we managed the communication of the Barcelona StartupWeek, the largest global event dedicated to entrepreneurs, in which our director, Deborah Gray also participated as a speaker. And we have recently organised another campaign which is very special to us: the celebration of 30 years of the Erasmus program by the European Commission, gathering 30 “Erasmus babies” in Madrid!
Incorporations and external collaborations
This year we have incorporated three stellar signings to the Canela PR team. The first to arrive was Sarai Carcedo in June. She is responsible for our new Design Department which offers ongoing creative support for our client’s campaigns.
In July, André Costa, the only male figure in the Canela Portugal team, came to support customer account management and give his charm in terms of creativity in campaigns and social networks.
In September, Arantxa Aguilera joined our Madrid office, a journalist with a lot of experience in technology who we knew from her time in media such as PC World or PC Actual. In short, as you can see this year we have not stopped and we predict that next year will be just as exciting.
We will keep you informed in our Etcetera blog and in social networks. But first we want to take advantage of the Christmas holidays to give ourselves a break, to toast with some, and wish you all: Merry Christmas and have a Fantastic New Year!
